The Winnipeg Jets Alumni & Friends  support high school hockey by presenting (2) $1,000.00 scholarships, one to a male and the other to a female high school hockey player. The criteria for this award includes on ice skills, as well as leadership in school and the community.

2011-2012 Scholarship Winners



1. Beverley Lunney of the Garden City Fighting Gophers Hockey Team is this years female recipient. Beverley is team captain, and second in team scoring. She is an enthusiastic leader, and a very hard worker. This 90% student is quite involved with the community, volunteering at Winnipeg Harvest and Siloam Mission, as well as assembling and delivering Christmas Cheer Hampers. She also is assistant coach and mentor with the Atom girls"A2" hockey team, and tutors a grade 9 French student.


2.Tieler Fenning Cox of the Provincial AA Champion Neepawa Tigers is the male recipient. Tieler is team captain and strives to maintaina relaxed, but focused attitude in the dressing room. He was selected as a League and Provincial All-Star. In addition to hockey, Tieler also participates in Baseball, Volleyball, Golf, Track and Badminton, and volunteers at several community activities. His coach says that he is a leader by his actions and establishes a true sense of unity and leadership with his teammates.

The Winnipeg Jets Alumni would like to Congratulate both Beverley and Tieler and wish them well in their future successes.
